WED, OCTOBER 13th
20 MINUTE LOOP PERFORMS AT
19 BROADWAY, FAIRFAX, MARIN COUNTY, CA (eponymous location)
WITH THE MONOLITH. NO COVER! 21+ 9PM

For a band that's strictly in it for the money and based in Marin County, 20 Minute Loop is dirt poor. What have we done wrong? Marin County, often reviled as a carefully manicured paradise for the rich, is in fact NOT part of the top-ten list of wealthiest U.S. counties. New Jersey, in fact, has the greatest number of counties appearing in that list. (Which isn't to say that the residents of Marin don't leave trails of money in their wake like the bright glaze of the snail's foot.) The lists below are deceptive, however, because they only include counties with populations above 100,000. The richest county in the nation, regardless of population? That would be Teton County in Wyoming, gateway to Yellowstone National Park, and the home of Dick Cheney.

We only bring this up, because it is 20 Minute Loop's intention now to correct our incongruous poverty (in the Bay Area's pit of wealth) and perform in the wealthiest counties in the country (beginning with Marin, birthplace of two members of 20ML), whether those counties have a "music scene" or not. We have embarked on this project because of the following anecdote: apparently the residents of Jackson Hole (in Teton County) were able to raise $5 million at a single Saturday benefit. There are only 18,000 people in Jackson Hole. This means that if we get even five people at a show in Jackson Hole, we could possibly be entertaining people with roughly $300 of a single night's disposable income, eager to invest in our merchandise and our general welfare. We usually make around $200 at a decently attended show. This could expand to $1500 in places like Jackson Hole. Perhaps even Dick Cheney himself will attend (as we get older, we command older audiences). Cheney, a Thoreauvian acolyte of the wilderness, a devotee of nature's solitude, might also enjoy the fact that Wyoming has no state income tax. But it's hard to knock him for that: even Thoreau apparently had his mom do his laundry while he lived at Walden Pond.
Love, 20ML
